About Us

Samantha was born and raised in Indiana where she grew up with dogs and horses. During her college years at Indiana University, she worked at a pet grooming salon, where her passion for dogs grew. She moved to North Carolina in 2006 and has worked in the Health and Wellness Industry since. However, her desire to work with dogs was reignited after struggling to find a boarding option that suited the special needs of her Doberman. Her struggle inspired the idea to provide a boarding environment that provided a fun and low-stress experience for pets; an environment where pets spent more time running outdoors, and not confined to a cage. This dream was the beginning of Dog Tales Day Camp & Boarding.

Jessica is from Graham, NC. She is a community college teacher, lifelong learner and lover of people. She enjoys competitive eBay shopping, wearing hats and grooming Dixie.

David is from Northboro, Massachusetts where he grew up with horses and chickens. He is a hand therapist, adventure racer and real estate enthusiast. He enjoys the great outdoors—building, hiking and tending to animals.

Mark was born and raised in Indiana. He moved to North Carolina in 2006 where he now works as a quality manager who specializes in software solutions. His business background is critical for the operations of Dog Tales and he is responsible for making sure we operate efficiently. Without Mark, the rest of us couldn’t provide the amount of attention we do to our furry campers. Mark’s pets include two dogs, a cat, and 26 chickens.

mary, a self proclaimed “pup snuggling specialist”, grew up in a small town in southern Maryland and moved to North Carolina in 2011. After working as a medical receptionist for many years, mary was thrilled to join the Dog Tales family in 2017! In addition to caring for other people’s animals, mary’s passions include learning sign language, writing, and caring for their own family of three rescued pups, chickens, betta fish, and other aquatic life!

Kaitlyn has lived in Durham her whole life. She attends the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, majoring in Communications. Outside of school, she likes to hike, volunteer at a local animal sanctuary, and care for her own two rescue dogs! After exploring different potential dog-related jobs in high school through interning at a veterinarian office as well as volunteering with Second Chance Pet Adoptions, she was happy to find Dog Tales. Starting at Dog Tales in 2021, she has been able to combine her love of hiking with her love for caring for dogs and their unique needs.

“Hi! I’m Bjorn! I am the first dog your dog will meet at Dog Tales! I run all of the play time tests for my mom, Samantha. I am always excited to greet my new friends and show them the ropes (and balls and treats!!!) of Dog Tales! I know how hard it is finding the right place to be – after all, I was all alone before my mom fostered me and decided to give me a furever home! I want to help your dog adjust to being at Dog Tales – their new home away from home!”
